an award-winning design studio at UF.
Mint is a faculty-supervised, student-run graphic design studio that provides advanced design and interdisciplinary students with opportunities to work on real-world projects. We established Mint in 2002 to provide advanced students the opportunity to work on real-world design projects for the University of Florida community and non-profit organizations in the US and abroad. It’s here we put our ideas into action and learn how design functions in the world, business, marketing, design strategy, production, and client relations.
Working first with client-partners to articulate the problem and project objectives, we then work collaboratively to explore the problem and develop innovative and appropriate solutions within the established parameters. All projects have a pedagogical function for students and we ask that client-partners be willing to support students in their professional growth. In return, we will work closely with you to design for your communication needs.
At Mint, we practice community-based design in a creative and educational environment. We desire to demystify design and make it visible. We spread design thinking by sharing our creative process with our partners. We bring our experiences, knowledge, and dreams together at Mint; and then we release them all to ricochet, connect, and unite through creative and dynamic collaboration.
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Mint was founded on the premise that graphic design and design thinking can play an important role in solving problems within our society.
WHAT WE DO
We work with partners to articulate project objectives and wicked problems, big problems that generate new problems. We implement design thinking and collaborate in teams to develop innovative solutions within the established parameters.
All projects have a pedagogical function for students, so partners support students in their professional growth. In return, we work closely with our partners to design for their communication needs.
/ Contribute to students’ learning
/ Wicked problems that prompt research and collaboration
/ Projects large and complex enough for a team
/ Diverse in concept, content, and media
/ We believe that a brand extends past the logo and penetrates the overall visual language, tone, experience, materials, attitude, and emotion of what is branded. There is a connection between the physical spaces, online presence, printed materials, and everything else that might carry the brand message
